Leading writer and journalist Daoud Al-Farhan died in exile in Cairo at the age of 82.

The deceased was one of the pillars of the Iraqi and Arab press and a 'true' free voice, carrying the word as a message and responsibility , and leaving an 'immortal' impact on the march of media and thought . The deceased held several positions, including Deputy President of the Iraqi Journalists Syndicate in several sessions , Assistant Secretary-General of the Union of Arab Journalists, Director of the Information and Research Center at the Iraqi Ministry of Culture and Information, Assistant Director General of the Iraqi News Agency, and Media Adviser at the Iraqi Embassy in Cairo for the period from 1989 to 1990. The late al-Farhan was characterized by a very bold satirical critical style, which criticizes the joints of the state and public policies in the time of the former regime. One of his most famous works is The Book of an Emerging Country.
